No kidding. What waste. This kid would be better served being handed a 22 or an air rifle so he can learn the fundamentals and avoid developing bad habits.

To much for the little guy.
This reminded me of an incident at a gun event in Mass. where a child was firing a rental full auto Uzi, the muzzle rise got away from him and he was killed with his Dad watching.

Naw - it wasn't a waste - the kid had a fun experience with shooting - that's the point.

There was no way that the kid would have hurt himself - did you see his dad holding the damn thing!!? did you catch on to only 1 or 2 rounds being in the drum?!! That Uzi thing was horrid incompetance by all involved....this was over the top from the safety perspective.

Didn't realize that the drum only had a couple of rounds.

Still makes me uneasy. I do remember sitting on my dad's lap at about 4 years old and him holding a .38 while i squeezed the trigger (two fingers - lol).

I agree that dad appeared to have control, and the kid did walk away with a smile.

I started my kids young also, but with a .22.

Start with .22 and go upwards, negating bad habits along the way.

But hell, it's nice to see the little guy have fun, and the dad controls the muzzle direction at all times anyway.

my first was a Benjamin-Sheridan air rifle as an xmas present in the 5th grade...

mehh.. I let my boy shoot an AR when he was 5.

Start em young under strict supervision and they won't be idiots as teens.
Address the bad habits along the way.
